MOODY MAVEN

DAISY LOWE

Age 28

When you feel low, what is the music you play to pull yourself out of it?

Anything by Prince... 'get off' is a great tune for putting a smile on my face. I'll always giggle at his dirty lyrics... if I need a good cry I'll listen to Amy Winehouse- tears dry on their own... and when I want to get myself together and feel strong- stronger than me. 'Break Stuff' by Limp Bizkit was a great song for shouting out my teenage angst... I have moments when that song still helps!

How do you know when things start to feel out of whack?

I'm very energetic, but I know that I'm out of whack when I start to feel manic, I'm not great at sleeping when I'm feeling over exerted.. even though I know the sleep will help I can't reach it... that's when I have to really try and do things like take long hot baths with magnesium or sea salt to try and bring myself back to equilibrium... I find keeping up with workouts and acupuncture really help keep me in the right head space.

What's your top tips for getting good sleep?

Magnesium bath, don't look at a screen an hour before bed, a hot drink at night after the bath... and a bedtime book :) like a kid. Take it back to basics. I also love lavender oil, I have a bottle from Neals Yard next to my bed which I put on my pressure points when sleep feels out of reach. I also love using the insight timer app on my phone, there's thousands of sleep meditations on there that always work when nothing else will.

What do you do when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? How do you pull yourself up?

Music, dancing, talking to my mum or my friends... I love meditating everyday and that always helps me too

What do you do when your energy levels are low?

Try and do a bit less but of course there's a lot of times that isn't possible... at times like that, I just try and find quiet moments for myself where I can just be still. Surrounding myself with bright and kind supportive people in my private and professional life helps a lot too... I try and eat well, comfort foods like Heinz tomato soup and my Grandma's chicken soup... maybe read a bit, write notes and watch films and I love having a good cuddle with my little dog Monty. Starting my days with hot water & lemon with either honey or ginger really helps my metabolism and my liver and kidneys, and at night time I do love hot chocolate with almond or hemp milk

Describe your current mood, today and this month

I can honestly say that I am the happiest I've ever been… I’ve just finished my 28th (29th?) London Fashion Week after have just signed with Elite model agency. I have so many exciting projects coming up over the next few months; I always feel doing projects I love and feel passionate about improves my mood.... I've just opened my own production company... my first venture is a podcast called 'Femme' where I will be talking to other woman about the honest experience of being a woman. It's a wonderful outlet for creativity and is inspiring me greatly right now.

How would you describe your relationship with your moods?

I'd like to think that I'm quite self aware... and so my relationship is usually pretty good... but of course I have my moments of feeling out of control of them.

What would your dream super power be?
